Before we go any farther, go back to the introduction and attach the camera to the computer so that the device is recognized. You must have the SIM card in the camera when you plug in the USB cable for it to be recognized as a Mass Storage device. When the SIM card appears on the Mac desktop the storage device has been recognized in the Mac OS and should be able for the next step in getting you Virtual Machine up and running Windows. Now locate your Virtual Box application and launch it. You should get something similar to figure four. We installed Windows 7 Home Premium for this test.

Now, highlight your VM from the menu and click on “Settings”. Move to the right and click on “Ports” > “USB” and you will get the screen at figure five. Click on the add USB filter (right side, second from top) and you should see a list of USB devices. Select the one that matches the device you saw in the System Profiler in the beginning introduction. It will add the device to the filter list. Double click on the listing and it will look like figure six. Remove ALL the information in Serial No., Product, Manufacturer, change Remote to “Any” and click “Ok”. Check the box “Enable USB 2.0 (ECHI) Controller” and click “Ok”.

You should be back at the main screen as shown in figure four above. Click on you Mac Desktop and eject the SIM card that is mounted as “Volume1”. DO NOT disconnect anything else. Now, with your host os highlighted, click on the “Start” arrow and your Windows OS should begin to boot. Once it is up and running it should have found the Mass Storage device and loaded the driver. Go to your menu click on “Computer” and you should now be able to access the SIM card. Refer to page 7, paragraph 9 of the M.I.N.E. Cam Operations Manual titled “Initial SD Card Programming”.
